SkyWatch Friday ~ Gratitude

My walk to work and home on a beautiful day is simply beautiful. I live a mile from where I work and often am offered a ride home at the end of the day but how can I forfeit these views. Out my back yard and across the street there is a beautiful tidal flat which floods and dries twice a day. On a low tide you can walk out to this little islet and on an extreme low tide you can walk out to Robertson Island beyond it.
This is the same area on a high tide taken from the opposite direction. If you click on the photo you will see the little islet and you can see the tide flooding. If the tide is out when I come home I will walk out to this special little place to meditate and give thanks for what surrounds me. As you can see it is not far from town(my place is fourth roof from the left, to the left of the tall poplar tree) but when you sit on the far side of the knoll you don't even know it is there. In this photo the tide is coming in and will flood to the edge of the grasses.
I love camping so Sunday I decided I would camp on the islet. With tent, therma rest, feather pillow, sleeping bag and book I walked five minutes to my campsite. No rain in the forcast so I didn't put the fly on and I set the tent on the highest point with the intention of getting a good sunrise photo. This photo is taken at 11 p.m., sunrise is at 4:50 a.m.As I settled in I noticed these two body boarders heading back to the mainland after dinner and visiting with friends on the island! The view to the east and town around 10:15 p.m.
The evening sky did not disappoint. The view from where I rested my head. It is hard not to feel gratitude when we take time to witness the gift of simple beauty that surrounds us every day. Happy SkyWatch Friday everyone.

You live in a beautiful place. I wouldn't forfeit that walk, either. I love the view out of your tent, only 5 minutes from home. And how cool to be able to identify your house as the 4th roof from the left as you view the town!

Too stunning!
But then you know this and it is only right that you practice gratitude, for then you enjoy it all the more!

Even I might walk home with views like that! I especially love the first photo, where everything is blue, even the mountains.

I would love to be able to that... I live in such a built up area with housing all around... I 'have' to get away from the sight of bricks as much as I can... your area looks just about perfect...

I have to giggle at the five minute walk to your campsite, which I'm guessing is about a twenty minute walk from work... heehee. But then, I guess there's no need to get away from it all when the 'all' is pretty damn nice!

Beautiful photos, as always.

New to your site. Wonderful photos! I simply love the diversity of settings in Canada. I have traveled coast to coast a few times and I love all that I see. Every province offers up wonders. I like to go to the little known area, not the touristy thing.

It only took you 5 minutes to get away from it all? Have you ever been trapped on the island by the tide? Beautiful photos of the skyline.
