My World Tuesday ~ Finally the roof goes on!

When I last posted about the Dune Cabin here, we were taking a breather as we discussed how we were going to make sure this little place does not end up on the west coast of the island during one of our winters storms!
In the interim we built a wood shed and as you can see there is plenty of wood waiting to be split and stacked!
Finally....solutions worked out the trusses begin to go up.
Trusses up(had to use all our decking material!) the perlins and strapping goes on.  For the high up work we let the pros due the work!
The neighbours came to watch the progress and give advice!
We recycled more hand hewn timbers from the old dismantled wood shed on the property.
More discussion on whether there should be a wrap around deck.
The post go in for deck on the north side of the cabin...so there will be a deck on half the cabin!
The rafters are on over the deck and the sheathing is going on the cabin.
The next step will be the sheathing on the roof, the ice and rain shield and the tin!

Good to see you are back at work on it, Carolyn. This sounds like a big job but the end result will be soooo worth it. :)

So interesting to see your cabin being built from the ground up. It’s kind of like your neighbour watching … except I’m not knowledgeable enough to offer advice on the matter! :)

That looks like it will be a beautiful place, although based on your earlier comments not one to be around in the winter!

Hi Carolyn, You're making progress since my last visit! The deck will be wonderful. (The neighbor can come sit on it instead of lounging on the ground...)

Oooo, making progress! A building site just ain't a building site without a couple of big dawgs flopped on the ground. Awww... :-)

Wonderful progress!!! I'm so excited for you!

Love the shot of the neighbor and dog. Too cute!

On the shot of the shed with the stack of wood being ready to be split ... did you notice all of the HEARTS?

I would like to link this to Guest Heart Thursday tomorrow, may I?
