SkyWatch Friday ~ Sea and Sky

(Click on any of these photos to enlarge and enjoy the detail)
I never tire of the turbulent skies and seas of late autumn on Haida Gwaii
and as I prepare to leave for the winter
I can't seem to get enough of them.Every time I walk the beach I am humbled by the beauty of the sky
and the sea.
Update: First snow this morning!

To see other great skies from around the world why not check out

Beautiful skies and sea! You're leaving them for the winter? Why? I don't think I would ever want to leave!

Great images Carolyn - my wife and I lived in Sandspit for a year while I was teaching there and I loved the big skies, endless beaches and winter storms. Your photographs have captured the spirit of Haida Gwaii very well, beautiful photographs!

How incredible! Really stunning, stormy sea and skies! Very dramatic and, yes, fierce is a good description! Love the rolling waves!

Enjoy your weekend and stay warm!

I love the uptake in those clouds, the sweep of them! And I see our future in your photos...no snow here yet, but how much longer can we dodge it??? You asked about the ferry here. There are docks in both Leamington and Kingsville (11km apart). Service to Pelee Island and Sandusky Ohio usually alternates between towns every summer, but this year is was a K'ville and the year before all Leam as each town made repairs.

Snow? So soon. Hope you are braced for the storms heading our way. Right now there are clearing skies and wind (with some pretty good waves), but it is supposed to get pretty bad starting tomorrow. For my contribution today I chose a solar halo I saw a few weeks back. Where are you headed for the winter? - Margy

There is so much power in the sea and sky. Excellent captures of that feeling.
So where do you spend the winter.

Tammie Lee said...

wow, snow at the beach, seems so strange as in the south where I once lived near the beach, that never happened. Your sky photos are phenomenal!

Gaelyn said...

So you'll still be dealing with snow, just with different views. That's cool. Thanks for the tip on Housecarers. I'm going to look into that. Yes, I'm going to SA in March.

Your photos of the beach look like paintings, they are so incredibly beautiful.
The snow says it all. Winter is here.

What wonderful beauty you bring us. The roaring sea and vaulting sky and the wonder of a snowy blanket. I yearn for the far north even more since I know I have no chance to feast my eyes on it again.

Wonderful beach photos. Looks like a lot of wonderful driftwood around. I like checking out all the different shapes of wood.
The snow one is cool. I've never seen snow at the beach. Great skywatch photos.

I wouldn't be able to get enough either! The beach looks like one I would walk forever! Marvelous photos!

Snow at the sea shore is something we hardly ever get, so I have just been gazing at your last shot.

Those cloud formations are so powerful, coming up over the rim of the world.
