SkyWatch Friday ~ Some blue sky with our clouds!

Low tide in Queen Charlotte.
We are having a very, very wet spring and summer so far on Haida Gwaii. So when you get a sunny day everything stops and you get out and enjoy it!
Jungle Beach on the east coast of Haida Gwaii.
All blue skies are best but we will take "some blue sky with our clouds"!
The beach is the best place to be these days as the "no-see-ums" are horrific!

SkyWatch Friday #46 ~ Weather Skies

Since I arrived back on Haida Gwaii the weather has been cold, wet and windy.  I have been away long enough that it is taking me a while to re-acclimatize to coastal weather.
Our long weekend, the Victoria Day long weekend was stormy and cold but as usual the weather cleared after everyone went back to work and school.  The winds persisted after the skies cleared and the gulls were taking full advantage.
The cirrus clouds, which form above 23,000 ft or 8,000 m are an advant of changing weather, often stormy!
Later in the day these little puffy clouds known as Altocumulus (developing over 6,000 ft or 2,000 m.) showed up.
And then the big guys(stratocumulus forming below 6,000 ft or 2,000 m) moved in!
However by dusk any threat of bad weather was heading to the main land.
And dusk (11 p.m.) was promising a nice tomorrow!

SkyWatch Friday ~ All in a days travel

(Click on any of these photos to enlarge and view detail.)
Dawn over the Hecate Strait at Tlell yesterday morning.
New snow on Sleeping Beauty Mountain in Queen Charlotte at lunch time.
The Creator's Glory over Queen Charlotte Harbour late afternoon.
And then this weird squall blew in just after we got back to Tlell in the afternoon. The colouration of the light was nothing I have ever seen before, looked almost like a sandstorm.

SkyWatch Friday ~ Sea and Sky

(Click on any of these photos to enlarge and enjoy the detail)
I never tire of the turbulent skies and seas of late autumn on Haida Gwaii
and as I prepare to leave for the winter
I can't seem to get enough of them.Every time I walk the beach I am humbled by the beauty of the sky
and the sea.
Update: First snow this morning!

I walked out on the beach yesterday morning after a wild weather night and this sky absolutely captivated me. I have it as my screensaver now and I get lost in it. Click on it to enlarge and be drawn in and do feel free to make it your screensaver.
