I spent the weekend in Ottawa, Ontario with my daughter and son-in-law.
They are training for a half marathon, so I went with them on Saturday morning
They are training for a half marathon, so I went with them on Saturday morning
along with a few friends on a 16 km run.
I road my bike and took photos.....I did about 20 kms!
This hill was fine coming down but we had to go back up
and up....I walked!

After such a hard workout, it was Starbucks and the Ottawa Byward Market for what has become known as the Obama cookie.
And these are the cookies President Obama brought for his daughters. The staff in this place could not make enough cookies to keep up with the demand for weeks following President Obama's visit and customers were not happy. As the owner said "...it's the law, I have to give my staff time off! "

This is where President Obama bought his key chain.
The owner, Adnan Ustun (who sold it to him) was
such a lovely man and still wears the glow of President
Obama's visit! (See Obama peeking over his shoulder!)
He says "Before the Obama purchase he sold maybe
five key chains a day. Now he’s selling 20!"

And I can't help but show this beautiful Christmas cactus blooming for Easter!

Well i was tired from the run, but looked like a nice place to do so, amazing how things will sell when there is someone famous isn't it? I guess i have never fell into that sort of thing. But very good for the store owners
Nice post
Carolyn: Beautiful captures and I'm sure you had a great easter celebration.
It looks like you had a lovely weekend!
Those cookies look yummy,.. i just finished my lunch and they would have made a wonderful dessert! Flowers are beautiful. Isn't it great to be able to get outside in the fresh air again after being cooped up all winter?
It's interesting to see that President Obama's visit is still helping sales in Ottawa. It sounds as if you had a great weekend.
Fun day! I am LOVING that Christmas/Easter cactus photo!
i really enjoyed this post, what fun and what a happy family you have.
Sounds like you got in some good exercise. Funny that everything Obama is so popular in Canada!
20 kilomtres seems like a long bike ride to me! Even longer to run!
Great post.Good for you doing all that biking. You deserved a dozen Obama cookies. I had one and thought it tasted even better than it looked. Glad those vendors are doing well.
Obama looks great but he cannot beat those lovely flowers!
Are the Tulips already flowering on Parliament hill?
Great post! Love the flowers...and the cookies!
What a lovely, upbeat selection of photos for Easter weekend. All smiles and sunshine and flowers.
Thanks for the great memories added to with your wonderful company in this Market. Your Neil
