Weekend Reflections #29 ~ Double the pleasure

After the Easter Parade last weekend in the Beaches (Queen Street East) area  of Toronto I walked the Boardwalk as I headed back to the Scarborough Bluffs.
This was an interesting fence on a beach front home.

SkyWatch Friday ~ A Good Friday

If I were not here to witness it, I would not believe the temperatures we are having this weekend (check 'em out on the side bar!).  The beautiful warm temperatures have brought blue skies.
I am finishing a housesit on the Scarborough Bluffs of Toronto overlooking Lake Ontario.
The backyard leads out to a beautiful ravine walk that leads to Cudia Park overlooking the Bluffs and Lake Ontario.
Signs of spring are beginning to show

and down at the Bluffs a robin stands sentinal against a blue sky and bluer lake.
The warmth has everyone out sunning...

This little guy was not happy to see us.
On the walk home through the neighbourhood we met this fella enjoying the greening grass....
and as I checked out the back yard crocus(?)
this little fella landed on my hand and stayed while I walked up the stairs to get my camera
to get some pictures of him!

SkyWatch Friday ~ Spring sunset

When you live in the city it can be hard to get a good sunset.
Work, family, commuting, and schedules often suck up time.
A couple of days ago I took my four-legged charge for a walk at dusk
on the edge of the Scarborough Bluffs and was rewarded with this beautiful evening sky.

SkyWatch Friday ~ Blue Glorious Blue

The Toronto skyline from the Toronto Islands
Southwest Ontario and Toronto specifically has been the hot spot in Canada this week with blue skies and temperatures in the high teens.
Knowing that snow could still fall(it is still winter!)
Looking west along the Scarborough Bluffs
a daily hike has been on the agenda this week.
The trees are beginning to loose their starkness
and the ice has left the lake
Looking west from the Toronto Islands
and the dirty sky of industry creeps along the horizon
Guildwood Inn gates
but it is wonderful to feel the warmth of the sun.

2010 Paralympics ~ Weekend Reflection #24

Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, David C Only and paralympian Jeff Adams
Yesterday I went to Toronto City Hall to watch the lighting of the Torch for the 2010 Paralympics which will begin in Vancouver on March 12.  The day was perfect unfortunately the media hype was minimal so the crowds were small however no less noisy.
City hall has a great ice skating rink so people had the opportunity to try Sledge Hockey...such fun!
(The photo was taken at 1 p.m. unfortunately the rink is in the shadow of the highrise towers.)
I took my time heading home and enjoyed what was around me!
The Delta Chelsea
Downtown Toronto is a feast for the senses on a sunny day!
