We seem to have a hopeless romantic in Canadian Astronaut Col. Chris Hadfield, Commander of the International Space Station

If you haven't seen Col. Hadfield's photos of our beautiful home from space why not "friend" him on Facebook and see some breathtaking skies from space.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

SkyWatch Friday ~ Change

When I left the house this morning to a hike the skies were clear blue.  A twenty minute drive to East Sooke Regional Park and the skies were already changing.
The blue sky was quickly covered and snow covered mountains and clouds were hard to seperate.

The weather and the skies are truly fascinating.

SkyWatch Friday ~ A beautiful morning

There is a show of the Aurora Borealis(northern lights) over most of Canada this week so I decided to sleep out and catch a glimpse of them.  I managed to see the moon rise at 1:30 a.m. and then promptly went to sleep until just before sunrise at 5:50 a.m.!  I went to make a coffee and by the time a got back the sun had risen!

SkyWatch Friday ~ Dramatic skies

When we get weather out of the southwest anything can happen....estuary of the Yakoun River at low tide.
I was walking out to the beach when I turned around and captured this....
when what I was going to capture was this!

SkyWatch Friday ~ Some blue sky with our clouds!

Low tide in Queen Charlotte.
We are having a very, very wet spring and summer so far on Haida Gwaii. So when you get a sunny day everything stops and you get out and enjoy it!
Jungle Beach on the east coast of Haida Gwaii.
All blue skies are best but we will take "some blue sky with our clouds"!
The beach is the best place to be these days as the "no-see-ums" are horrific!
